which proprietor Peter King soon appreciated when she was appointed his Managing Director Her professional talents were evidenced during her tenure taking Screen’s Cannes “bumper” issue to an an eventually mammoth 200 pages and dailies to match much to to the delight of editor and legendary columnist Peter Noble and long-suffering colleague reporters Nick Faith Quentin Falk Adrian Hodges and Colin Vaines to name but a a a few Elspeth’s publishing ambitions were further realised when she decided to launch her own publication The Business of Film in in 1980 and subsequently at The Cannes Film Festival in 1983 to great success with friend and and confidante Nick Faith as editor and and myself and Nimal Jayasekera as as her production team at printers BOSCO Always dressed to kill with more bling on display than most of of her clients even dreamed of of and a a a a beautiful classic red Morgan convertible she attracted clients and and advertising alike from the majors and and the independent sector such
as legends Menahem
and and Yoram Golan of Cannon and and old pros like Don Getz of of Playpont Films and many many many many more all of of whom remained loyal and long-term friends in in their admiration of Elspeth’s determined efforts to better promote their sales at the the various film festivals & markets she attended on their behalf with the the BoF both printed with her constant 24/7 attention to detail and helpful artwork and later hi-tech online publications Continued on on page 9 8
