I I first met Elspeth in in in in in in 1996 at her her office in in in in in in the New Line Cinema building in in in in in in in West Hollywood where I I got a a a a temp job typing up her her product guide for the the Cannes Film Festival issue that year year at at the the the time never realizing I would go on on to work work with with her her for the the the next 26 years years For many years years I worked in in her her her office and and also on on on the the magazine with with her her five times a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a year year year but gradually took on on on more more and and more more responsibilities over the years Elspeth always amazed me me at how she was was able to do so so much with with so so little help She was was was a a a a a a a a a a a “one woman band” I would always think with with help from others definitely but she was was the the the creative force behind TBOF and remained so for for all these years The The volume of of of output still amazes me me me The The other day I was browsing through some of of of the the the the the hard copy back issues of of of the the the the the the TBOF magazine and and and marveling at the the the the the the aesthetics and and and the the the the the the uniqueness of of of her her style of of of writing and and and and putting together all of of of these issues She never stopped brainstorming and and and coming up with with new ideas and and making changes in in in in in in in in her business to deal with with the the changing times in in in in in in the the world as as well I always admired all of that about her she changed the the business model to to year-round and so we worked together much more closely even though a a a a a a a a continent away she in in in in in in London and and me in in in in in in the the the States putting out a a a a a a a a a a a a daily issue and and publishing during all the the the markets as as as well well I will miss her her her very much as as as well well as as as the the the work we we we did together but am so happy to to to have have known her her her and to to to have have been a a a a a a a a a a a a part of the the universe that was created Elspeth Tavares Betsy Pearson
