Patricia Scarlett Establishes A New Paradigm In Media
Training With The Media Business Institute (MB!) Based
At The Centre For Social Innovation (CSI) Annex In Toronto
Patricia Scarlett, Founder & Co-CEO of the Media Business Institute (MBI)
Media Business Institute (MBI) – a new private education and training organization focused on the business aspects of television, film and digital media brings the first of its students to MIP TV 2015, as it launches its To Market, To Market Program, which gives new and emerging indie producers an immersive experience of the world of TV/Film sales and distribution.

The Media Business Institute (MBI) is a long held ambition of Founder & Co-CEO Patricia Scarlett and the quest to finding the right location and putting the project together has been a labor of love.

Patricia Scarlett commented: "We are pleased to announce MBI's formal commencement of operations, pleased to have a home in the Centre for Social Innovation, that is shared by many innovative cutting-edge companies and where we can lay a strong foundation for our company."

Scarlett continued: "The genesis on which MBI is based is: we felt there was a niche for a new type of training company for individuals who are looking for short-format education and training that delivers the skills and insights that they are seeking. With the explosion of new platforms for distributing video-based content, it's never been more important for individuals working in these sectors to have relevant, up-to-date knowledge."

MBI has developed a curriculum that is innovative and responsive to the rapidly evolving media landscape – that is not offered by other companies that provide media training. Its instructors are from different fields of discipline in the film and television industry, and hail from UK, South Africa, Canada, and the Netherlands.

Scarlett added: "At MBI, our participants will receive training that is market-driven and constantly updated, which they can put to immediate use in their career and employment in the sector."

Courses being offered by MBI include: No Business Like Show Business, a primer on the inner workings of an indie production company; Sporting Life, an introduction to the world of the buying and selling of sports rights; and From Suite to Screen, the sales and distribution of content.

MBI is based at the Centre for Social Innovation (Annex location, 720 Bathurst Street in Toronto) and started its comprehensive slate of training programs at the beginning of April 2015.
