L- R Billy Crystal and Tiffany Haddish
Production is currently underway in New York in a comedy made in heaven. Billy Crystal and Tiffany Haddish are the stars of the heart-warming feature film Here Today, directed by Billy Crystal and produced by Astute Films’ President Fred Bernstein. Rocket Science founded by Thorsten Schumacher is handling international sales during AFM. CAA is handling USA rights.
“I’m so grateful to get the chance to bring this charming and beautiful story to life,” said Crystal. “To write this with Alan was a joy, and to have Tiffany as my co-star is fantastic. The generational differences in our comedy are great to play with. She’s explosively funny and genuinely human at the same time.”
Fred Bernstein added: “Billy and Tiffany share an incredible ability to bring warmth and intelligence to their humor. Astute is thrilled to bring such iconic comedic talents together onto one screen. Their timeless humor will bring genuine laughter to a film that will resonate with audiences worldwide, and bridge the gaps among all age groups.”
Here today screenplay is co-written by Billy Crystal with his fellow Saturday Night Live alum and Emmy-award® winning writer Alan Zweibel based on the short story The Prize also written by Zweibel.
Here Todayis a romantic comedy – but without the romance. Veteran comedy writer Charlie Berns (Crystal), who is slowly but surely losing his grip on reality, befriends a talented young New York street singer Emma Paige (Haddish). Together, they form an unlikely and touching friendship that kicks aside the generation gap aside and redefines the meaning of love and trust.
Here Today is an Astute Films production in association with Crystal’s Face Productions and Big Head Productions. Fred Bernstein, Billy Crystal, Dominique Telson, Alan Zweibel and Tiffany Haddish are the producers and the film is executive produced by Rick Jackson, Claudine Marrotte & Samantha Sprecher.
